The Freising Cathedral Hill is one of the most important sacred and cultural-historical centers of the Catholic Church in Bavaria and is equally popular with believers, tourists, and art lovers.
Since November 2021, the Cathedral Hill has gained another attraction: the Cathedral Hill model in the Marstall.
It provides visitors with a vivid and interactive insight into the architecture, history, and significance of the area. The Domberg model gives viewers a detailed overview of the site and is an ideal starting point for guided tours or individual walks.
What makes it special is the innovative combination of a physically built model and media animation. The buildings on the Domberg are represented as an abstract architectural model with a perforated façade.
The digital content is fed precisely via real-time rendering onto the horizontally installed screen and illuminates the translucent buildings of the model.
When visitors select a sight via the touchscreen, the building lights up and the information level becomes visible. A clearly structured and intuitive menu navigation system provides interesting facts about the 22 buildings on the Domberg: concise key facts and additional text and image material provide a brief or in-depth insight. The “Quick Information” level provides visitor-relevant information on opening hours, construction sites, timetables, etc.
All main buildings of the entire complex were CNC milled and attached to a touch display.
At the infopoint of the domberg Freising guests can get information about the building with the help of a phygital exhibit.
We provided the design of the entire digital playback including animation and programming of the touch application.
This interactive table allows visitors to access general information as well as more detailed information on a variety of buildings.
